"It had been almost 10 years since I stepped away from music, but that all changed on July 28th at 11:30pm. After some liquid courage, I stumbled my way through an impromptu set with a band performing at my Dad’s bar. Their lead singer was under the weather and something compelled me to weasel my way into his spot. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but the universe constructed the perfect storm. Little did I know that just 4 months later I’d get an invite to practice with them as their lead singer. This Saturday will be our first rehearsal, and I have to tell you... I’m crazy nervous, but equally excited. I have no idea what to expect. Hell, they might decide I’m not a good fit and I could totally embarrass myself. On the other hand, it could be the start of something really great. Either way, I’ve already learned something from this experience. It’s great to have dreams, but unless you get off your ass and put yourself out there, that’s all they’ll ever be (dreams). I know you’ve heard this before, but do something that scares you every day. Every time I think I’ve reached my full potential, I find ways to challenge myself. I’m learning that “greatness” isn’t something you achieve, it’s a state of mind for those who continually strive to do better than they have today. If all goes well, I look forward to sharing part of this journey on the next season of #BinkoUnscripted! Pray that the momentum continues... I’d love nothing more than to dust off some of that leather, pull out the studs and spikes, and rock my way through the next chapter with all of you."
